Home & Garden - Director of Purchasing

• Actively purchases categories for Stauffers.

• Oversees the day to day purchasing activities for Stauffers. 

• Oversees buying procedures, from planning to execution, following company policies and standards to determine best practices.

• Inspects all Home & Garden stores as part of the seasonal inspection tours.

• Works with the COO and Marketing to create and implement Marketing initiatives.

• Assists the COO in the development and implementation of the Home & Garden line of business budget.

• Analyze daily and weekly sales and labor reports and works with the Buyers to make adjustments based on trends.

• Analyze monthly and semi-fiscal line of business reports.

• Stays up to date with the industry trends by attending trade shows, pier group meetings,etc. 

• Visits competition to stay aware of the marketplace and Stauffers' position in it.

• Conducts research and evaluations to understand and project needs concerning pricing, quality and delivery times.

• Identifies suitable suppliers, negotiates deals and fosters positive business relationships.

• Develops and implements purchasing strategies.

• Manages supplier relationships.

• Provides assistance at our retail stores and/or warehouse, as needed.

• Ability to work an average of 45 hours per week and adjust to work load.

• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, and volume.

• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
